NBA 2K17 Sports explained more about the new features over on the NBA 2K17 Facebook page. Details of how you can start the new league can be seen below. You can add teams outside of the NBA. In fact, these can be downloaded through 2k's official servers. It would be completely mental! I would love this feature so much, especially considering the future customization that could go along with it. Unfortunately, as soon as I opened up the game and went to separate modes to look for the mode, nothing was found.
I was disappointed beyond belief, especially considering how much NBA 2K17 lost by doing that. I felt like if they let that feature in, NBA 2K17 showed us this year that they are still completely into adding more classic teams in the game, by adding the '00 Raptors, the '00 Trail Blazers, the '01 Lakers, the '03 Mavericks, the '04 Pistons, the '04 Timberwolves, the '05 Suns, the '06 Heat, the '07 Cavaliers, the '08 Celtics, the '08 Rockets, and the '13 Heat.
Not only that, but NBA 2K17 could truthfully benefit from adding in this mode by allowing players to upload custom renders for created players on created rosters. Imagine seeing your Reggie Miller or Charles Barkley NBA 2K17 character with an actual photo representing them instead of just a made-up render of the created player in a pose, which looks stupid, and because there is so little, many players use the same pose. These classic teams were all separately wanted, some more than others.
However, the inclusion of even more classic teams would definitely not hurt matters at all. For example, adding in the 2002 New Jersey Nets with Jason Kidd, Kenyon Martin and Richard Jefferson still have not been included in the game, as well as some even more retro teams with players including Tom Chambers, Bob McAdoo, and even more teams like the 1975 Championship Warriors including Rick Barry, and the 1978 Washington Bullets with Wes Unseld and Elvin Hayes. Game Modes like MyLeague and MyGM would be even better than they already are.
Start with the current 30-team NBA, as it is structured now. Start a league with Expansion where you can instantly expand the league from 30 up to 36 teams (all with designs of your choosing). Or, you can start with a completely customized league (that can still include up to 36 teams) that may include realigned divisions, Expansion Teams, Classic teams, Edited/Rebranded NBA teams, Euroleague teams, and more.
Australian Boomers will be the first team hailing from a non-US region to be included in the "NBA 2K17" game. The said team will join Team USA as two of the only national teams present in the upcoming title. CEO of Basketball Australia Anthony Moore expressed the excitement they are feeling with Boomer's addition to "NBA 2K17" from 2K Games. In fact, the team's very own Patty Mills iterated his gratitude, stating how "great to see 2K" recognizing the nation's ever-growing impact towards the sport of basketball.
